Teacher Bio:
I've been teaching Spanish both online and face-to-face for over 35 years. For me, the best thing about teaching Spanish is helping students learn cultural traditions while learning to communicate and converse. Being able to speak Spanish is a valuable life skill that you can use in so many ways. It's exciting to help students grow in confidence and proficiency.
I didn't start studying Spanish until college and it was not easy for me at first. I keep that in mind when working with students and it helps me support them to overcome challenges so they don't get frustrated. Students have told me I'm a "good explainer" and that's something I'm very proud of!
I hold Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Marquette University as well as National Board Certification in World Languages. I'm semi-retired but keep active teaching at WVS and at Carroll University. I was "Wisconsin's World Language Teacher of the Year" in 2010 and I've written several books about learning Spanish
I live in Brookfield with my husband and our golden retriever "Libby." We have two adult children, both married/getting married in 2024:) In my free time, I like to read, cook and try new recipes, garden, see friends, and walk Libby.
