Online Advanced Placement Courses for Wisconsin Virtual School
WVS offers over 20 Advanced Placement (AP) courses for our partner schools. These courses are equivalent to undergraduate level college courses and undergo yearly course audit as required by College Board®. The courses aim to prepare learners for the AP® exams which are administered yearly in May.
What You Need to Know:
AP® Exam Ordering and Administering: School districts are responsible for ordering and administering AP exams from the College Board. Students must work with their local AP Coordinators to register for the exam prior to the established College Board deadlines.
Textbooks and Materials: Required textbooks and materials must be purchased by the sponsoring district or student. Check the WVS Materials List for details.
Course Pricing: For information on AP course pricing, visit our pricing page.
Important Notes:
Hands-On Labs: The College Board requires hands-on labs for courses like AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP Physics 1 and 2. Students must work with their local districts to complete these lab requirements.
Course Approval: All AP courses offered by WVS have been audited by the College Board. Local school AP Coordinators and AP Course Audit Administrators should review the College Board's process for adding WVS as an Online Provider and enrolling students in Exam Only sections.
Resources for Administrators:
The local school AP Coordinator and AP Course Audit Administrator should review the College Board process for adding WVS as an Online Provider and adding students to Exam Only sections.
Second Semester Join Codes: WVS AP teachers will provide a second semester join code for students who begin courses after the exam ordering date.
Course Enrollment Dates:Recommended dates for AP enrollments are suggested to help students complete required course activities prior to the May exam dates.
