Schools are continually meeting challenges and finding ways to overcome hurdles in student achievement. Online Credit Recovery Courses can help:
- Students make up credits for graduation
- Prepare students for state exams
- Students find success and encourage retention
- Meet budgetary concerns while trying to serve each student
WVS offers a credit recovery option to better meet the individual needs of the student and local district curriculum considerations.
The WVS Credit Recovery approach:
- At the beginning of each course unit, students will take a pre-test which evaluates student understanding of the individual lessons in that unit. A score of 70% or higher on pretest questions for a lesson will excuse the student from content, activities and assessments related to that lesson. Students can still see and review the excused content. NOTE: There are some skill application and demonstration units (example: a writing unit in English) for which there are no pre-tests. There are also skill demonstration lessons (examples: Geography skills in History, a virtual lab in Physical Science) which may be required and so will not be excused based on the pre-test results.
- The final grade reported includes graded assignments (examples: writing in English and Social Studies, problem-solving in Math, and labs in Science), lesson quizzes and unit tests.
- Students will have up to 20 weeks access to the course content. If the district wants students to have less time, they will need to change the date once the enrollment is activated.
- District personnel can request a "Curriculum Review" by contacting WVS at 715-453-1953 or wvshelpdesk@cesa9.org to preview courses prior to making course requests for their students.
