Teacher Bio:
I am a Science Educator and Wildlife Ecologist. I have been a science teacher for over 30 years and have taught science at the middle school, high school, and college levels. I enjoy connecting students to the beauty and wonder of the natural world. I also enjoy teaching with technology and have been teaching & designing fully online classes since 2004.
I have taught biology and environmental science/ecology in the Stevens Point, WI area for 20 years. Recently, my husband and I enjoyed an adventure living in Barcelona, Spain for 4 years (2019-2023) where I taught International Baccalaureate (IB) Biology at the American School of Barcelona. I have now retired from this full-time, face-to-face teaching in Spain and have returned to the USA.
My husband and I relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota area to be close to family. After our time living in the Mediterranean climate of Barcelona, we are enjoying outdoor adventures and the beauty of the 4 seasons of the midwest again.
For fun, I enjoy daily nature walks and birdwatching with my husband and our dog. We adopted a rescue puppy this past year, so are keeping busy with dog obedience training classes. Our dog is a fast learner and real sweetie. To relax in my free time, I enjoy yoga and listening to jazz/blues music & flamenco music. For fun, I play piano & alto saxophone, attend concerts and plays, and research family history (genealogy). I love tracking down a family ancestry mystery! I am also an avid reader of Science Fiction and love to watch SciFi movies. We also love to travel, especially to the west coast to visit our son, a recent college Physics graduate who is now working in computer software engineering.
I look forward to working with you as your science teacher for your WVS online course. I hope that you will gain a deep appreciation of the beauty & wonder of nature. Also that you will develop an understanding of the applications of Biology & Environmental Science to your daily life.
