Teacher Bio:
The 2024-25 school year will be my 5th year with Wisconsin Virtual School (WVS) and my 23rd year teaching middle school math overall. In addition to teaching with WVS, my 23 years in education has included teaching in Algoma, Wisconsin, and Silverton, Oregon, which is where I currently reside with my family.
I am a proud husband and father of two beautiful daughters, 12 and 14. My oldest will be a freshman this year and will get her learner driver's permit very soon! Scary and exciting! We also have a dog, Marley. Our family loves to hunt, fish, camp, play board games, and build puzzles. My daughters are active in playing softball and volleyball.
I believe that everyone has the ability to be great at math. Math ability is not inherited but rather learned through hard work and the desire to be great. You can be great! Math is the world's universal language and a skill you will use in everything you do. Middle school math is a time to learn and develop the skills you will use forever. Think about it...decimals are money; percentages include taxes, gratuities, increases, and decreases; fractions are measurements in construction class, wood shop, art, and cooking; geometry is finding area and perimeter to know just how much paint you need to buy to redo your room or if the new rug you want will fit the space you picked out. Math is everywhere and one of the most essential skills you can learn.
Remember, math not coming easily is not the same as not being good at math.
