Teacher Bio:

My professional background includes a BS in Industrial and Operations Engineering (University of Michigan) and a Master's in Computer Science Education (Cardinal Stritch College). The natural outcome of these interests was my developing a competitive high school (Vex) robotics team. Students work in teams to design, build, and program robots to compete in annual challenges.

After retiring from teaching mathematics and computer science in the Wausau School District, I now keep myself busy with online education, traveling with my wife Cathy, long walks with Coco (our recent canine addition), and numerous home renovation projects. While I truly enjoy retirement, my work as a teacher and coach continues to bring me a great deal of joy and purpose.

Quite simply, I really enjoy introducing people to the beauty and joy of computing. Learning how to compose computer programs to solve real problems is a very worthwhile activity for learners of all ages and interests, and the logical deduction and reasoning skills it helps develop are useful for every academic and professional pursuit. As the world continues to evolve towards dependence on digital technologies, I firmly believe that every student should be exposed to computer programming at an early age. For some, this will lead to academic pathways that were previously unknown or inaccessible. But everyone will benefit from the development of structured, algorithmic thinking skills.

NEW WVS Online Course Catalog!

Wisconsin Virtual School has upgraded to a NEW course catalog.

• Use the filters to easily search for courses by academic level, term, or “features” tags like AP, CTE, NCAA Approved, New, and more!
• From now until summer, the 2026-2027 term in the new Course Catalog will provide a “sneak peek” for NEW and UPDATING courses.
• The Courses area of the website has also been updated with improved information about our courses in general and specific course categories.
• The WVS Course List Google Doc is still available for your reference for the coming year, and has been updated to include all 2026-2027 courses! See the Courses page for that resource.

A tutorial screencast will be shared with districts via our April newsletters - stay tuned!
