Personal Info/Hobbies:

My wife, Deana, and I have been married for 36 years. We have two children, our son lives in New York City and our daughter lives in Madison. I like to stay busy by hiking, biking, down hill and cross county skiing, raising orchids, gardening and traveling.

Personal Statement about Online Teaching:

I view Online teaching as one of several opportunities to meet the educational needs of students in which the traditional school can not. The lack of personal interaction in the teaching process is my biggest challenge to teaching online. Using the telephone, though not perfect, does help in making a personal contact with my students. On the flip side it is rewarding to see my students grow not only in their knowledge of the subject area but also in their computer skills. I believe this growth is much faster than in the school setting because students are applying skills they are learning rather than just practicing.
