Advanced Placement* Exam Reviews
Beginning In early March,
Wisconsin Virtual School (WVS) and its online
partner, Aventa Learning, offer FREE Exam Reviews
in 14 subjects.
The Aventa Learning Advanced Placement* Review provides
quality review strategies and resources to help AP
students earn their highest possible score on the
Advanced Placement exam. Students in 14 AP classes use
the Aventa Learning exam review to focus their
preparation, identify areas of weakness, and complete
their final preparations.
Benefits of AP* EXAM REVIEW
Even a well designed and taught AP course may not be
enough to prepare the student for the rigor of this
exam. That is why many successful students participate
in a test preparation activity in addition to their
course work. This review increases student confidence
and the chance that students will earn that passing
score that benefits the student and the school program.
Schools today are under increasing pressure to increase
performance for all students, from at-risk to high
achieving. Too often the needs of the high achieving
students are neglected, and they do not reach their full
potential. Studies indicate that increasing achievement
in Advanced Placement helps lift the overall achievement
of the entire school.
For students, success on the AP exam helps them succeed
in college. Students who have completed an AP course
successfully are more likely to be successful in
college, and passing scores may bring instant college
credit to deserving students.
HOW DOES AN AP* EXAM REVIEW WORK?
In
the Aventa Learning AP Exam Review classes, students are
given successful strategies for review and for taking
the test itself. They also get high quality test
preparation materials and course content. Students test
themselves both to practice for the exam and to diagnose
areas of weakness. Once they have discovered those
weaknesses, they have immediate access to high quality
online content they can review. Rather than go through
the entire course, they can pick out the parts they need
the most. This individualizes the program for each
student.
To
help students visualize quality responses on free
response questions, the scoring system is explained, and
students practice grading sample student responses
themselves. They then compare their scores with the
score a professional would have given it. This helps
them understand exactly what kind of work they need to
do to gain the maximum score possible. What if they need
help? Expert AP Teachers are standing by, ready to
answer those troubling questions and help guide the
student through the material. There is a toll-free
technical support number as well.
